Remember that most thorough introductions include:
- A hook that grabs the readers' attention
- Background information on your topic
- A narrowed thesis statement (see this page for assistance with your thesis)
- A blueprint or main points that support your thesis
A typical conclusion includes the following:
- A summary of the blueprint or main points
- A restatement of the thesis (DO NOT repeat the thesis word-for-word)
- A "so-what?" statement that helps the readers transition out of your essay (this is the opposite of the hook)
