History of Writing Instruments Exhibit

On display we have a Tiffany inkwell and pen holder, circa 1900. Although what we have on display isn't nearly as valuable, this Antiques Roadshow clip will give you an idea of what certain Tiffany inkwells are worth!

In addition to the books and typewriter we have on display, here are some unique resources that discuss writing implements and writing as an art.

Illuminated letters were a popular form of art in texts such as The Bible and The Book of Kells. In fact, Montgomery College is hosting Illuminations, an exhibit at the CAT Gallery on the Rockville campus. Check out this slideshow of illuminated letters from the talented artists on display!
